Alliance Leisure Appointed to Deliver Battersea Park Sports Ground Refurbishment for Wandsworth Council
We are pleased to share that we have been appointed by the London Borough of Wandsworth to deliver a programme of refurbishment works at the Battersea Park all-weather sports ground, helping to secure the long-term future of this valuable community sports facility.
Backed by an investment of approximately £600,000 from the council, the project will focus on the refurbishment of the existing artificial turf pitches, ensuring the facility continues to support hockey teams and community use for years to come.
Works to refurbish the pitches will commence on the 7th April and are expected to be completed by July 2026.
The project was procured through the UK Leisure Framework, owned and managed by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL), and we will work alongside specialist partners to deliver the project, including SSL Group Ltd and Velocity Sports Ltd who are both recognised experts in the design and delivery of high-quality sports pitch projects.
The refurbishment will replace ageing and deteriorating artificial pitch surfaces with modern, durable alternatives designed to withstand intensive use. The improvements will future-proof the facility, ensuring re-accreditation by England Hockey for West London hockey teams and enabling ongoing use by the wider community for football and hockey.
As one of London’s most popular parks, Battersea Park plays an important role in supporting health, wellbeing and community sport across the borough. The investment reflects Wandsworth Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing its leisure infrastructure.
Steve Winter-Rose, Business Development Manager at Alliance Leisure, said:
“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Wandsworth Council to deliver these important improvements at Battersea Park sports ground. By refurbishing the existing pitches, we are helping to safeguard a much‑valued community sports venue and ensure it continues to serve local clubs, schools and residents for many years to come.”
Further updates on the project will be shared as works progress.
