Deal Leisure Centre Reaches Topping Out Milestone

Alliance Leisure celebrates key construction milestone as new £20m leisure centre takes shape.

We joined Dover District Council and the project partners to celebrate the topping out of the new Deal Leisure Centre, marking the completion of the building’s highest point and a significant milestone in the development.

Held on Tuesday 27th October, the ceremony brought together representatives from Dover District Council, Alliance Leisure, construction contractor Pellikaan and Everyone Active, which will operate the new facility. Guests were invited to sign the building’s steel frame to mark the occasion.

We were appointed by Dover District Council to lead the end-to-end delivery of the development, which will replace the ageing Tides Leisure Centre with modern, energy-efficient facilities designed to support health, fitness and community wellbeing.

A range of facilities is set for the new building, including a six lane pool, gym, health and fitness studios including a reformer Pilates studio, a toddler splash pad and a café. Enhanced accessibility includes a new platform lift and Changing Places facility.

Andrzej Juraszek, Delivery Manager at Alliance Leisure, said:

Reaching the topping out stage is an important milestone for the Deal Leisure Centre project and a reflection of the collaborative work taking place across the project team.

By bringing together a team of leisure specialists, we are combining expertise and experience to deliver a facility that responds to the needs of the local community. When the new centre opens, it will provide a welcoming, accessible place for people to be active, connect with others and support their wellbeing for generations to come.

Cllr Kevin Mills, Leader of Dover District Council said:

We are delighted to see this topping out ceremony taking place, and to celebrate the excellent progress made on the construction of the new leisure centre in Deal.  This is fantastic news and a brand new leisure centre with modern facilities is a major investment for our community.

The project has been procured through the UK Leisure Framework, owned and managed by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd. Alliance Leisure is working alongside a team of sector specialists, including Pellikaan Construction, GT3 Architects, Hadron Consulting, CGP, Engenuiti and Southern Green.

Our Engagement team have been working closely with the council to create and update a project microsite which can be found here

Construction is progressing towards completion before the end of 2027, and we look forward to sharing further progress updates as they arise.
