Ramsgate Leisure Centre

Working in partnership with Your Leisure Kent Ltd and Thanet District Council, Alliance aimed to provide a top fo the range facility to not only increase sporting engagement but also aid health and wellbeing for the local community.

The business case for this £4.2m redevelopment project was based around significant savings being achieved through the consolidation of two oeprations (one with a pool and the other a dry site only) into a signle site as well as enhanced revenue streams being realised through commercial facilities that go beyond the usual local authority leisure provision.

The new Ramsgate Leisure Centre now features both wet and dry facilities including a 25m swimming pool and learner pool, luxury day spa, Feelgood Factory toning studio, a refurbished gym, group cycling studio along with a new cafe and changing areas. These new facilities, along with the existing 8-court sports hall, provide customers with an array of choice.

Alliance raised the required funding from the City against Your Leisure’s commitment to pay back the investment over 20 years, using surplus revenues generated from the new activity areas.

What's innovative about this robust business model is the facility mix that we've been able to include in old stock, at no extra cost to the council. We're not building the same old thing, we're thinking about the users of the future.
