Robin Park Leisure Centre Refurbishment Marks Third Completed Project for Wigan Council

We have successfully completed a £780,000 refurbishment project at Robin Park Leisure Centre for Wigan Council, delivering a modern, functional environment designed to support staff operations and significantly enhance the visitor experience.

The project, with a duration of just 12 weeks, focused on revitalising previously underutilised space within the facility, transforming a dated bar area into a vibrant and contemporary hub. The redevelopment has introduced high-quality office accommodation and welcoming communal areas for staff, alongside a modern commercial kitchen, stylish servery and upgraded seating areas to better serve customers.

Works were carefully planned and phased to minimise disruption to the leisure centre’s day-to-day operations. Throughout the programme, the facility remained accessible to users wherever possible, ensuring continuity of service while improvements were carried out.

The project, which was procured through the UK Leisure Framework, which is owned and managed by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL), brought together a strong delivery team including Universal Group, BGH and Axiom, as well as OBL as kitchen and servery specialists.

The Robin Park Leisure Centre refurbishment has successfully reimagined an outdated space, creating a modern workplace and high-quality hospitality environment that meets the evolving needs of both staff and visitors.

Tom Gardner, Business Development Manager at Alliance Leisure said

“This project is a great example of what can be achieved when experienced partners work together with a shared focus on quality and long‑term value. By combining thoughtful design, careful planning and a well‑coordinated installation, the team has successfully unlocked the potential of the existing facility and it’s a real credit to everyone involved.”

This latest completion marks our third recent project with Wigan Council, following the successful delivery of the Boathouse project at Coniston and the 3G pitch at Standish Leisure Centre last year. The continued partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting the Council’s wider transformation ambitions through a collaborative development partner approach.
