Facilities for Today’s Communities

There are an estimated 2,720 ageing leisure centres in the UK, with many dating back to the 1970s. Ageing in infrastructure terms, but, essentially, outdated when it comes to their facility mix and how that pertains to the needs of the modern consumer. Wrapped up in the above is also, crucially, the financial sustainability of these buildings for local authorities.

The landscape is really changing. We still need enough commerciality in what we build to protect it, but the two big drivers now are carbon reduction and delivering on the health and wellness agenda.

Sarah Watts, CEO, Alliance Leisure

Refurbishment of existing facilities is an impactful and cost-effective means of fulfilling multiple needs – providing entertainment for local residents, positively impacting health, reducing carbon footprints, and generating revenue.

How We Can Help

With over 25 years’ experience in developing thriving leisure facilities, and by working closely with partners such as ukactive and Sport England, the Alliance Leisure team knows, quite simply, what works.

Through in-depth opportunity analysis and scoping, we will work with both you and your local community, whilst applying our team’s own expertise, to devise refurbishments to fulfil your requirements in ways you may not expect.

Working with Alliance Leisure – a proven leisure development specialist – has been extremely positive. At all stages of the development, we had confidence that the project was being managed and directed by those with decades of previous experience and that we were benefiting from efficiencies at all levels of the supply chain. The finished project looks and feels amazing and will enhance the lives of everyone within the community for many years to come.
